Sodus Point Lighthouse
The Sodus Point Lighthouse is located on the southern shore of Lake Ontario in Sodus Point, New York. Built in 1871, it stands 40 feet tall and features a distinctive white tower with a red lantern. The lighthouse was constructed to guide ships safely into the Sodus Bay harbor, which was an important shipping route in the 19th century.
The lighthouse is no longer an active aid to navigation but remains a popular historical site. It is part of the Sodus Point Lighthouse Museum, where visitors can learn about its history and the maritime heritage of the region. The lighthouse is also a picturesque spot for photography and sightseeing.
