Society for Creative Anachronism
The Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a global organization dedicated to researching and recreating the arts, skills, and culture of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. Members, known as "SCA participants," engage in various activities such as historical reenactments, crafting, and combat, all while adhering to a specific time period, typically from the 5th to the 17th century.
Founded in 1966 in California, the SCA promotes a sense of community and learning through events, workshops, and competitions. Participants often adopt medieval personas, wear period costumes, and practice historical skills like sword fighting, archery, and calligraphy, fostering a unique blend of education and entertainment.
