Snow Geese
Snow Geese are medium-sized waterfowl known for their striking white plumage and black wing tips. They have a distinctive honking call and are often seen in large flocks during migration. These birds breed in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions of North America, primarily in Canada and Greenland.
During migration, Snow Geese travel thousands of miles to reach their wintering grounds in the southern United States and northern Mexico. They primarily feed on grasses, grains, and other vegetation, often foraging in agricultural fields. Their population has increased significantly in recent years, leading to concerns about habitat degradation.
