Snipe
A "snipe" is a type of wading bird belonging to the family Scolopacidae. These birds are known for their long bills and distinctive plumage, which helps them blend into their wetland habitats. Common species include the common snipe and the jack snipe, both of which are found in marshes and mudflats across Europe, Asia, and North America.
In addition to its avian meaning, "snipe" is also used in the context of online auctions, where it refers to the practice of placing a last-minute bid to win an item. This tactic can be effective in competitive bidding situations, as it leaves little time for other bidders to respond.
