Slovenian War of Independence
The Slovenian War of Independence occurred in 1991 when Slovenia declared independence from Yugoslavia. The conflict lasted for about ten days in June and July, primarily involving the Slovenian Territorial Defense and the Yugoslav People's Army. The war was marked by brief skirmishes and a few casualties, but it was relatively limited in scale.
Following the declaration of independence, Slovenia faced military intervention from the Yugoslav forces, but the Slovenian forces successfully defended their territory. The conflict ended with the signing of the Brioni Agreement, which led to a ceasefire and recognized Slovenia's independence, paving the way for its eventual international recognition.
