Slipstreaming
Slipstreaming is a technique used in racing where a vehicle follows closely behind another to reduce air resistance. This allows the trailing vehicle to gain speed with less effort, as it takes advantage of the reduced drag created by the lead vehicle. This strategy is commonly seen in various motorsports, including NASCAR and Formula 1.
In addition to racing, slipstreaming can also apply to cycling, where cyclists ride in a formation to conserve energy. By staying in the wake of the lead cyclist, others can maintain higher speeds with less exertion, making it an effective tactic in competitive cycling events.
