Sleep Apnea Appliances
Sleep Apnea Appliances are devices designed to help individuals with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) breathe more easily during sleep. These appliances work by repositioning the jaw and tongue to keep the airway open, reducing the frequency of breathing interruptions. They are often custom-fitted by dentists to ensure comfort and effectiveness.
Common types of sleep apnea appliances include mandibular advancement devices (MADs) and tongue retaining devices (TRDs). MADs push the lower jaw forward, while TRDs hold the tongue in place to prevent airway blockage. These appliances are a non-invasive alternative to CPAP machines, which are also used to treat sleep apnea.
