Skippers
Skippers are small, agile butterflies belonging to the family Hesperiidae. They are known for their rapid, skipping flight patterns, which give them their name. Skippers typically have stout bodies and broad wings, often displaying vibrant colors and distinctive markings. They are commonly found in meadows, gardens, and open fields, where they feed on nectar from flowers.
These butterflies undergo a complete metamorphosis, starting as eggs that hatch into caterpillars. The caterpillars then pupate before emerging as adult butterflies. Skippers play an important role in ecosystems as pollinators, contributing to the reproduction of various flowering plants, including wildflowers and garden plants.
