Skiffle
Skiffle is a music genre that originated in the United Kingdom in the 1950s. It combines elements of folk, jazz, and blues, often featuring homemade or improvised instruments like washboards, tea chest basses, and acoustic guitars. The genre gained popularity among youth, particularly in working-class communities, as a way to create music with minimal resources.
The most famous skiffle group was Lonnie Donegan's band, which helped bring the style into mainstream music. Skiffle influenced many later musicians, including members of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, who incorporated its energetic and informal style into their own work.
