Sisserou parrot
The Sisserou parrot, also known as the Imperial parrot, is a vibrant bird native to the rainforests of Dominica. It is recognized for its striking green plumage, purple breast, and yellow accents. This parrot is the national bird of Dominica and plays a crucial role in the island's ecosystem by aiding in seed dispersal.
Sisserou parrots are medium-sized, reaching about 50 centimeters in length. They primarily feed on fruits, seeds, and flowers, and are known for their strong, social nature. Unfortunately, their population is threatened due to habitat loss and illegal trapping, making conservation efforts essential for their survival.
