Sir Stanley Matthews
Sir Stanley Matthews was an English professional footballer, widely regarded as one of the greatest wingers in the history of the sport. Born on February 1, 1915, in Stoke-on-Trent, he had a remarkable career that spanned over three decades, playing primarily for Stoke City and Blackpool. Matthews was known for his exceptional dribbling skills, speed, and sportsmanship, earning him the nickname "The Wizard of the Dribble."
He made his debut for the England national team in 1934 and went on to earn 54 caps, scoring 11 goals. Matthews was the first recipient of the Ballon d'Or in 1956 and continued to play professionally until the age of 50.
