Singapore Medical Council
The Singapore Medical Council (SMC) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Health in Singapore. It is responsible for regulating the medical profession, ensuring that doctors meet the required standards of practice and ethics. The SMC maintains the register of medical practitioners and oversees the licensing process for new doctors.
In addition to licensing, the SMC also handles complaints against doctors and conducts disciplinary proceedings when necessary. Its primary goal is to protect public health and safety by ensuring that medical professionals provide high-quality care in accordance with established guidelines and regulations.
