Simple Sentence
A simple sentence is a type of sentence that contains only one independent clause. This means it has a subject and a predicate, expressing a complete thought. For example, in the sentence “The cat sleeps,” “The cat” is the subject, and “sleeps” is the predicate.
Simple sentences can also include modifiers, such as adjectives or adverbs, but they do not have any dependent clauses. An example of a simple sentence with modifiers is “The small dog barks loudly.” Here, “The small dog” is the subject, and “barks loudly” is the predicate, providing more detail.
