Simona Amânar
Simona Amânar is a retired Romanian gymnast, born on September 7, 1979, in Constanța, Romania. She is best known for her achievements in the 1990s, particularly during the 1996 Summer Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the team event and a silver medal in the all-around competition. Amânar was a key member of the famous Romanian gymnastics team, often referred to as the "Golden Generation."
Throughout her career, Amânar earned numerous medals at major competitions, including the World Championships and the European Championships. She is recognized for her powerful vaulting skills, which led to the naming of the "Amânar" vault in her honor. After retiring from competitive gymnastics, she has remained involved in the sport as a coach and mentor.
