Simon Fitzmaurice
Simon Fitzmaurice was an Irish filmmaker and author, known for his work in the film industry despite facing significant health challenges. He was diagnosed with motor neuron disease (MND) in 2008, which gradually paralyzed him but did not deter his creative spirit.
Fitzmaurice gained recognition for his debut feature film, My Name Is Emily, which was released in 2015. The film, inspired by his own experiences, showcases his talent and determination, highlighting the importance of storytelling in overcoming adversity. He also wrote a memoir titled It's Not Yet Dark, which details his journey and struggles with MND.
