Simon Bolivar Buckner
Simon Bolivar Buckner was a prominent American military officer and politician born on April 1, 1823, in Kentucky. He served as a general in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War and was known for his leadership in several key battles, including the Battle of Fort Donelson in 1862.
After the war, Buckner transitioned into politics and served as the governor of Kentucky from 1887 to 1891. He was also involved in various business ventures and remained a respected figure in his community until his death on January 8, 1914.
