Sikh religion
The Sikh religion originated in the Punjab region of India in the 15th century, founded by Guru Nanak Dev Ji. It emphasizes the belief in one God, equality among all people, and the importance of community service. Sikhs follow the teachings of ten successive gurus, with the final guru being the Guru Granth Sahib, a sacred scripture that contains hymns and writings.
Central to Sikh practice is the Gurdwara, a place of worship where congregational prayers and community meals, known as Langar, are held. Sikhs are encouraged to live a truthful life, engage in honest work, and share their wealth with others, reflecting their core values of compassion and humility.
