Sikh Identity
Sikh identity is rooted in the teachings of Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, and is characterized by a commitment to equality, community service, and spirituality. Sikhs believe in one God and follow the teachings found in the Guru Granth Sahib, their holy scripture.
A key aspect of Sikh identity is the Five Ks, which are five articles of faith that Sikhs are expected to wear. These include Kesh (uncut hair), Kanga (a wooden comb), Kara (a steel bracelet), Kachera (cotton undergarments), and Kirpan (a ceremonial sword). Together, they symbolize a Sikh's dedication to their faith and values.
