Sihwa Dam
The Sihwa Dam is a tidal power dam located in South Korea, specifically in the Gyeonggi Province. Completed in 2010, it was built to protect the surrounding areas from flooding and to create a reservoir for water management. The dam spans approximately 12.7 kilometers and separates the Sihwa Lake from the Yellow Sea.
In addition to its flood control and water management functions, the Sihwa Dam is notable for being the world's largest tidal power plant. It generates renewable energy by harnessing the natural rise and fall of tides, contributing to South Korea's efforts to increase its use of sustainable energy sources.
