Sidama
The Sidama are an ethnic group primarily located in the southern region of Ethiopia. They speak the Sidamo language, which is part of the Afro-Asiatic language family. The Sidama people are known for their rich cultural traditions, including unique music, dance, and festivals that celebrate their agricultural lifestyle.
In 2020, the Sidama region was granted official statehood, becoming the Sidama Region within Ethiopia. This change allowed the Sidama people to have greater autonomy and self-governance. The economy of the Sidama is largely based on agriculture, with coffee being a significant cash crop that plays a vital role in their livelihood.
