Sibylline Books
The Sibylline Books are a collection of ancient prophetic texts in Latin and Greek, attributed to the Sibyls, who were female oracles in ancient times. These texts were believed to contain divine revelations and were consulted by Roman leaders for guidance on important decisions, especially during crises.
Originally, there were said to be nine volumes of these books, but only a few fragments survive today. The Roman Senate kept the Sibylline Books in the Temple of Jupiter on the Capitoline Hill, and they were carefully guarded and consulted by appointed priests known as the Quindecimviri.
