Shinto priestess
A Shinto priestess, known as a miko, is a female religious figure in the Shinto tradition of Japan. Miko perform various rituals and ceremonies at shrines, often serving as intermediaries between the divine and the community. They may also engage in traditional arts, such as dance and music, to honor the kami, or spirits, worshipped in Shinto.
Miko typically wear a distinctive outfit, which includes a white kimono and a red hakama. Their roles can vary from shrine to shrine, but they often assist Shinto priests in maintaining the shrine and conducting rituals. Miko are also involved in seasonal festivals and community events, helping to preserve and promote Shinto practices.
