Shema
The Shema is a central declaration of faith in Judaism, affirming the oneness of God. It is traditionally recited twice daily, during morning and evening prayers. The Shema begins with the phrase "Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one," emphasizing the monotheistic belief that is fundamental to Jewish faith.
The Shema is found in the Torah, specifically in the book of Deuteronomy (6:4-9). It serves as a reminder for Jews to love God with all their heart, soul, and might. The Shema is often inscribed on mezuzahs and is a key element in Jewish rituals and education.
