Shatsky Rise
Shatsky Rise is an underwater volcanic plateau located in the northwest Pacific Ocean. It covers an area of approximately 1.5 million square kilometers and is one of the largest volcanic features on Earth. The rise is composed of several seamounts, which are underwater mountains formed by volcanic activity.
The formation of Shatsky Rise is believed to have occurred around 145 million years ago during the Mesozoic Era. It is thought to be the result of a hotspot, where magma from the Earth's mantle rises to the surface. This geological feature provides valuable insights into the tectonic processes and volcanic activity of the region.
