Shasta Dam
Shasta Dam is a large concrete gravity dam located on the Sacramento River in northern California. Completed in 1945, it is one of the tallest dams in the United States, standing at 602 feet. The dam creates Shasta Lake, which is the largest reservoir in California, providing water storage, flood control, and hydroelectric power.
The primary purpose of Shasta Dam is to manage water resources for agricultural and urban use in the region. It also plays a crucial role in maintaining water flow for salmon and other aquatic life in the Sacramento River. The dam is operated by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation.
