Shahid Minar
Shahid Minar is a national monument located in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. It was built to honor the martyrs of the Language Movement of 1952, which aimed to recognize Bengali as one of the official languages of the country. The monument features a tall, white structure with a red and green design, symbolizing the struggle for language and identity.
Inaugurated in 1963, Shahid Minar has become a significant symbol of Bengali pride and cultural heritage. Every year, people gather at the site on February 21 to pay their respects, making it a focal point for commemorating the sacrifices made for linguistic rights and freedom.
