Shabbat candles
Shabbat candles are lit by Jewish families to mark the beginning of Shabbat, the weekly day of rest. Traditionally, two candles are used, symbolizing the two commandments to remember and observe the Sabbath. The lighting usually occurs just before sunset on Friday evening.
The act of lighting the candles is often accompanied by a blessing, expressing gratitude for the sanctity of the day. The candles burn throughout the evening, creating a peaceful atmosphere and serving as a reminder of the spiritual significance of Shabbat in Jewish life.
