Sh 2-2
Sh 2-2, also known as Sharpless 2-2, is a bright emission nebula located in the constellation of Cassiopeia. It is part of a larger complex of nebulae and is approximately 2,000 light-years away from Earth. The nebula is known for its striking appearance, which is primarily due to the ionization of hydrogen gas by nearby hot stars.
This nebula is often studied in the field of astrophysics because it provides insights into the processes of star formation and the dynamics of interstellar matter. Observations of Sh 2-2 contribute to our understanding of how nebulae evolve and interact with their surrounding environments.
