Sevan trout
The Sevan trout, known scientifically as Salmo ischchan, is a unique freshwater fish native to Lake Sevan in Armenia. This species is characterized by its distinctive coloration, which can range from silver to dark green, and it has a streamlined body adapted for life in cold, clear waters. The Sevan trout is an important part of the local ecosystem and is also a popular target for anglers.
Due to overfishing and habitat changes, the population of Sevan trout has declined significantly. Conservation efforts are underway to protect this species and restore its numbers in Lake Sevan. The fish is not only a cultural symbol for the region but also plays a vital role in the local economy through fishing and tourism.
