Service Dog
A service dog is a specially trained animal that assists individuals with disabilities. These dogs perform tasks that help their handlers manage daily activities, such as guiding those who are visually impaired or alerting individuals with hearing impairments to important sounds. Service dogs are recognized under the law and have access to public places where pets are not allowed.
The training for a service dog is extensive and can take up to two years. They are trained to remain focused on their tasks and to behave appropriately in various environments. Common breeds used for service dogs include Labrador Retrievers, Golden Retrievers, and German Shepherds.
