Septoplasty
Septoplasty is a surgical procedure aimed at correcting a deviated nasal septum, which is the cartilage and bone that divides the nasal cavity. A deviated septum can cause breathing difficulties, nasal congestion, and other issues. During the surgery, an ear, nose, and throat specialist, known as an ENT, removes or reshapes the septum to improve airflow through the nostrils.
The procedure is typically performed under local or general anesthesia and can take about one to two hours. Recovery usually involves some swelling and discomfort, but most patients can return to normal activities within a week. Septoplasty can significantly enhance quality of life for those with breathing problems related to a deviated septum.
