Senatorial Class
The "Senatorial Class" refers to the grouping of U.S. Senators based on their election cycles. Each Senator serves a six-year term, and the Senate is divided into three classes, with approximately one-third of the Senators up for re-election every two years. This system ensures continuity within the Senate while allowing for regular elections.
The classes are designated as Class I, Class II, and Class III. For example, Class I Senators were last elected in 2018, Class II Senators in 2020, and Class III Senators in 2022. This classification helps manage the electoral process and maintain a balance of experience within the Senate.
