Semi-Arid Regions
Semi-arid regions are areas that receive limited rainfall, typically between 10 to 20 inches (25 to 50 cm) annually. These regions often experience hot summers and mild winters, leading to a unique ecosystem that supports drought-resistant plants and animals. Common vegetation includes grasses, shrubs, and some trees, which have adapted to survive in these conditions.
These regions are found on every continent, often bordering arid regions and humid climates. Examples include parts of the Great Plains in the United States and the Sahel in Africa. Agriculture in semi-arid areas relies on irrigation and drought-resistant crops to sustain farming practices.
