Selichot
Selichot are special prayers for forgiveness recited in the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year. These prayers express remorse for past actions and seek divine mercy. Traditionally, they are recited during the month of Elul and continue until Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement.
The Selichot prayers often include poetic verses and are usually recited in the early morning hours. Many communities hold special services to mark this time, emphasizing reflection and repentance. The practice serves to prepare individuals spiritually for the High Holy Days and the themes of judgment and forgiveness.
