Second Battle of Bull Run
The Second Battle of Bull Run, fought from August 28 to August 30, 1862, was a significant conflict during the American Civil War. It took place in Prince William County, Virginia, and involved the forces of Confederate General Robert E. Lee against the Union Army led by Major General John Pope. The battle was part of the Northern Virginia Campaign and aimed to secure control of northern Virginia.
The battle resulted in a decisive victory for the Confederates, who successfully pushed back the Union forces. This defeat weakened the Union's position in the region and bolstered Confederate morale, leading to further campaigns into the North, including the eventual Battle of Antietam.
