Sculptor Galaxy
The Sculptor Galaxy, also known as NGC 253, is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Sculptor. It is approximately 11.4 million light-years away from Earth and is one of the brightest galaxies in the sky, making it a popular target for amateur astronomers.
Discovered in 1783 by the astronomer Carlo Emilio Bonifazio, the Sculptor Galaxy has a diameter of about 70,000 light-years. It contains a high concentration of stars and is known for its active star formation, which is fueled by the presence of gas and dust within the galaxy.
