Scottish education system
The Scottish education system is distinct from the rest of the United Kingdom, focusing on a broad curriculum that emphasizes creativity and critical thinking. Education is divided into three main stages: primary education, secondary education, and tertiary education. Children typically start primary school at age five and progress to secondary school at age twelve.
In secondary education, students take National Qualifications in various subjects, usually around age sixteen. Afterward, many continue to further education or higher education at colleges and universities, where they can pursue specialized courses and degrees. The system aims to provide equal opportunities for all students.
