Scottish Football League
The Scottish Football League (SFL) was the governing body for professional football in Scotland, established in 1890. It organized the top three divisions of Scottish football, including the First Division, Second Division, and Third Division. The SFL played a crucial role in the development of the sport in Scotland, overseeing league competitions and promoting clubs.
In 2013, the SFL merged with the Scottish Premier League (SPL) to form the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL). This new organization streamlined the management of professional football in Scotland, combining the top tier and lower divisions under one umbrella to enhance the sport's structure and governance.
