Schwarze Witwe (Spider)
The Schwarze Witwe, or black widow, is a venomous spider known for its distinctive glossy black body and red hourglass marking on the underside of its abdomen. Found primarily in warm regions, these spiders prefer dark, sheltered areas such as woodpiles and basements.
Despite their fearsome reputation, black widows are generally not aggressive and will only bite in self-defense. Their venom is potent, affecting the nervous system, but bites are rarely fatal to humans. Prompt medical attention can effectively treat symptoms, making awareness and caution important when encountering these spiders.
