Saybrook Lighthouse
Saybrook Lighthouse, located at the mouth of the Connecticut River in Old Saybrook, Connecticut, is a historic beacon that has guided mariners since its construction in 1886. The lighthouse stands 55 feet tall and features a distinctive white tower with a red lantern room. It is an important landmark for navigation in the Long Island Sound area.
The lighthouse is built on a rocky shoal and is accessible only by boat. It was automated in 1959, eliminating the need for a keeper. Today, Saybrook Lighthouse is a popular subject for photography and a symbol of maritime heritage in the region.
