Sawtooth Mountains
The Sawtooth Mountains are a rugged mountain range located in central Idaho, part of the larger Rocky Mountains. This range is known for its distinctive jagged peaks, which resemble the teeth of a saw. The highest peak, Borah Peak, reaches an elevation of 12,662 feet, making it the tallest mountain in Idaho. The Sawtooth National Recreation Area encompasses over 700,000 acres of wilderness, providing habitat for diverse wildlife, including elk, deer, and various bird species. The region features numerous alpine lakes, with Redfish Lake being one of the most well-known. The stunning scenery and recreational opportunities attract visitors year-round.
