Santal Language
The Santal language is a member of the Munda branch of the Austroasiatic language family. It is primarily spoken by the Santal people, an indigenous group in India, particularly in the states of Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha. The language has several dialects and is known for its rich oral tradition, including folklore and songs.
Santal is written using the Latin script and has its own script called Ol Chiki, developed in the 1920s by Pandit Raghunath Murmu. The language plays a crucial role in the cultural identity of the Santal community and is used in various social and religious contexts.
