Sankaty Head Lighthouse
Sankaty Head Lighthouse is located on Nantucket Island in Massachusetts. Built in 1850, it stands 108 feet tall and is known for its distinctive red and white stripes. The lighthouse was constructed to guide ships safely through the waters surrounding the island.
In 2007, the lighthouse was moved 400 feet inland to protect it from coastal erosion. It is now part of the Sankaty Head Golf Club and is a popular landmark for visitors. The lighthouse is still operational and is maintained by the Nantucket Historical Association.
