Sangamon County
Sangamon County is located in central Illinois and is part of the Springfield metropolitan area. The county was established in 1821 and is named after the Sangamon River, which flows through it. The county seat is Springfield, which is also the state capital of Illinois.
The county covers an area of approximately 875 square miles and has a diverse landscape that includes urban, suburban, and rural areas.
