Sandy Hook Lighthouse
The Sandy Hook Lighthouse is located in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and is the oldest working lighthouse in the United States. Built in 1764, it stands at 108 feet tall and has a distinctive white tower with a black lantern. The lighthouse was originally constructed to guide ships into the New York Harbor.
The lighthouse is part of the Gateway National Recreation Area and is open to the public for tours. Visitors can climb the 95 steps to the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding area, including the Atlantic Ocean and the New York City skyline.
