Sancho II
Sancho II was a king of Portugal who reigned from 1223 to 1248. He was the son of Afonso I, the first king of Portugal, and played a significant role in the early consolidation of the Portuguese kingdom. His reign was marked by conflicts with neighboring territories and internal struggles for power.
Despite his efforts to strengthen the monarchy, Sancho II faced challenges that led to his eventual deposition in 1246. He was succeeded by his brother, Afonso III, who continued the work of expanding and solidifying the kingdom. Sancho II's legacy is often overshadowed by his more successful siblings.
