San Juan Diego
San Juan Diego was a 16th-century indigenous man from Mexico, known for his vision of the Virgin Mary. He was born in 1474 and lived in the area that is now Mexico City.
In 1531, Juan Diego reported seeing the Virgin Mary on the hill of Tepeyac. She asked him to build a church in her honor. To prove his vision, he collected roses in his tilma, which later revealed an image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. This event is significant in Catholic tradition and led to the establishment of the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
