Sampo
The Sampo is a mythical object from Finnish folklore, particularly featured in the epic poem Kalevala. It is often described as a magical artifact that brings prosperity and good fortune, producing endless supplies of grain, salt, and gold. The Sampo is typically depicted as a mill or a grinding stone, symbolizing abundance and wealth.
In the Kalevala, the Sampo is created by the blacksmith Ilmarinen and becomes a central element in the conflict between the heroes and the sorcerer Louhi. The quest for the Sampo drives much of the narrative, highlighting themes of struggle, loss, and the pursuit of happiness in Finnish mythology.
