Salian
The term "Salian" refers to a group of Germanic tribes known as the Salian Franks, who played a significant role in the early medieval history of Europe. They settled in the region that is now northern France and Belgium around the 3rd century AD. The Salian Franks are notable for their establishment of the Frankish Kingdom, which later expanded under leaders like Clovis I.
The Salian Franks are also recognized for their legal code, known as the Salic Law, which governed inheritance and property rights. This law notably excluded women from inheriting thrones, influencing succession practices in various European monarchies. The Salian influence contributed to the formation of modern European states.
