Sainthood
Sainthood is a recognition given by various religious traditions, particularly in Christianity, to individuals who have led lives of exceptional virtue and holiness. These individuals, known as saints, are often believed to have a special connection to the divine and may serve as intercessors for the faithful. The process of becoming a saint typically involves a formal canonization procedure, which includes verifying miracles attributed to the individual after their death.
In the Catholic Church, sainthood is a significant aspect of faith, with a well-defined process that includes beatification before canonization. Saints are venerated and their lives are celebrated through feast days, prayers, and the establishment of shrines. Other religions, such as Buddhism and Hinduism, also recognize holy figures, though the criteria and practices surrounding sainthood may differ.
